Dress Code

Dress Code

The Big Band Dance Club has established a dress code to maintain the standard of dress for ballroom dancing.  The dress code is as follows:

·         Jeans are now permitted, but they must be well fitting and in good repair.

·         Shorts, tank tops, T-shirts, flip-flops or athletic shoes are not permitted on the dance floor.

·         If a first-time visitor does not comply with the dress code, he/she should be allowed into the dance and tactfully informed of the code by the Membership Director, or designee.  Thereafter, a repeat offender will not be permitted to attend the dance.

·         Accessories such as large rings, bracelets, watches, brooches, loose/long necklaces, and large belt buckles can be hazardous on the dance floor. They can catch in your partner's clothing or scratch and bruise the skin.

·         Hats should be removed while dancing.

·         Outfits and accessories should be comfortable, safe, and also reflect the level of formality of the dance event.

·         The following are guidelines for what to wear to various events:

o   Regular events:  Women usually wear cocktail dresses, and both women and men wear dressy casual attire.

o   Formal events:   Dressy attire is recommended for both women and men or ball gowns for ladies and tuxedos for gentlemen.

o   Semi-formal events:  Ties for men and dressy dresses for women.

o   Special theme events:  Special theme events may involve costumes or other attire, which will be announced in the monthly club Newsletter and on the Special Events page of this website.
